Relaxed Eat Streets Wedding

Relaxed Eat Streets Wedding

With Jamie Eastgate of Brisbane City Celebrants

Rachelle and Jamie tell us all about their relaxed Eat Streets wedding, beginning with a relaxed and upbeat ceremony that took place at the adjoining Macarthur Park at Northshore Harbour.

We wanted our wedding day to be young at heart, fun, and relaxed, much like us.

Our ceremony took place on the lawn at Northshore Park near the Northshore Ferry Terminal. We envisioned something simple but beautiful, where the focus was on us and the love we have for each other. We had a wonderful ceremony officiated by Jamie Eastgate Brisbane City Celebrants.

Cara at Brisbane Wedding Decorators created our ceremony setup which was just beautiful, and exactly what I was hoping for. The simple ceremony arbour decor really let the background and the bridal party shine!

Thankfully the weather was sunny and mild, as we didn’t have a wet weather backup plan, and the weather was predicting afternoon showers right up until the day! We had a short and heartfelt ceremony and it was so wonderful to have our families on both sides celebrate together.

Reception

Our reception was held in the beautiful Riverdeck at Eat Street Markets. We have always loved Eat Street Markets for it’s good food and fun atmosphere, so it was perfect for our reception!

Many of our guests had never been there before, so it was a big hit with them!

We had some time between the ceremony and reception for our guests to explore the markets, and then had a variety of platters from the food vendors in the reception area.

We have always loved being outdoors and looking up at the stars, so we chose a silver and navy night sky theme for the wedding.

The Riverdeck had gorgeous wooden tables, decorated with lanterns with pineapples, ferns and fairy lights. It was so quirky and different, we loved it! They also had a beautiful bar in the room wrapped in vines and flowers, and the lanterns on the ceiling gave the room a very special feel.

We had so many people saying ‘congratulations’ and clapping for us as we walked around, even the food vendors in their stalls were yelling out and cheering, and it gave the night such a special feel.

While we were getting our photos done there was a lady who came up to us with her daughter, who wanted to say hi because she thought I was a real princess, so we said hi and had a little chat. It was little moments like that that really made the day feel even more special than it already was!

We had a cocktail reception with share platters from Eat Street Markets vendors, including oysters from Shuck All Oyster Bar, antipasto from Pizza/Pasta, Asian inspired finger foods from Tokyo Tucka, and chicken wings, pork belly and zucchini chips from Poulet and Porc. We also had a number of guests go out and get food that they saw that they couldn’t leave without trying!

Cake

The cake was an amazing creation by Karlee’s Cupcakes.

I think people thought we were a bit odd when we mentioned having a navy blue wedding cake, but Karlee has such a unique style, we knew she could pull it off!!

We had a 16 inch navy and white decorated cutting cake with a custom made “Mr & Mrs Parker” cake topper, and white and navy cupcakes for the guests with silver edible glitter.

The cupcakes were a HUGE hit, as we had a little surprise for our guests: anyone who ate the blue cupcakes temporarily had their mouths turn blue! It was all fun and games until my 18-month-old son came up to me with a blue mouth!

Real Wedding at Northshore Harbour

Samantha and Wayne’s Real Wedding at Northshore Harbour

With Celebrant Jamie Eastgate of Brisbane City Celebrants

Bride and Groom: Samantha and Wayne

Wedding Ceremony Location: Northshore Harbour Cafe, Hamilton

Tell us about your ceremony: We had our ceremony placed under the trees on the grounds at Northshore facing the river. The weather was amazing and the sun had gone behind the trees so all the guests were in shade. We set up a laptop on Skype and called our family in the UK. Our ceremony with Brisbane City Celebrants Jamie Eastagte was very simple, classic and traditional. It was short and sweet and PERFECT!

Reception Location: The wedding reception was also held at Northshore Harbour Cafe in Hamilton.

Tell us about your reception:
The reception started with pre-dinner drinks and canapés looking over the river and gardens. We then had a quick sit down meal with quick speeches and then everyone was up for dancing! Everybody danced until our white glow stick exit, and we stayed right until the end!
What we loved:
The whole day was amazing. It was so great to be surrounded by our family and close friends. It made us feel so loved and we were so grateful for everybody’s generosity.
The weather was just perfect, as there was not a cloud in the sky!
We loved the food, cake, the music, the flowers, the dancing, the lolly buffet, our outfits, and the fact that we skyped our family in the UK that couldn’t make it!

Describe your experience with Jamie from Brisbane City Celebrants:

From our first meeting with Jamie he made everything seem so straightforward and he was so passionate about being a part of our special wedding at Northshore Harbour.

It was so refreshing to talk to Jamie as he was also so eager to help with any questions we had. Jamie was so prepared and sent through oodles of information to help us make our day about ‘us’.

We went with traditional vows, and it was a comfort to have Jamie standing there with us on the day to ease our nerves, and make sure the ceremony ran smoothly.

Tell us about any of your wedding suppliers that you were impressed with and why:

Photographer – Dear & Tine Photography; AMAZING! Chaddy was like part of the family on the day.

Florist – Brisbane Wedding Flowers; Cassie did the most beautiful job on both the bouquets and tables! It far exceeded my expectations. She was on my page from the first meeting.

Cakey Creations – Leanne did the most superb job on our cake pop cake!

Northshore Harbour Café; Bec and the staff – went over and above to make sure everything was perfect!

And of course, Jamie Eastgate from Brisbane City Celebrants.

Your advice to bride and grooms to be: Just relax and enjoy the day. Make sure you get everything done the day before so you and your families are relaxing and enjoying getting ready. Don’t stress about things that are out of your control. Enjoy the little moments and laugh.
Just remember that if something goes wrong the only person that will know is you – so forget it, it is out of your control and it will only upset you in the end!!!
