There is always something magical about weddings at Summit Mt Coot-tha. As the name suggests it is located at the top of Mt Coot-tha boasting spectacular panoramic views over Brisbane City and way beyond.

We are passionate advocates for marriage equality and while civil partnerships have recently been introduced, which are a step in the right direction, with so many countries now legalizing same sex marriage, we REALLY hope to see marriage equality come to fruition in 2016.

We were so excited to see our new and improved website go live! So much thought went in to making the user experience of our website easy and enjoyable. However our web developers couldn’t quite grasp our vision for our key point images, so Ciara took it on to herself to doodle her own little images, making our website as personalized as our ceremonies are for our clients!

Being the Wedding Celebrant for Claire and Jess….

Was such an honor and one of the highlights of my Celebrant year! The happy couple planned their big day with both their ceremony and reception held at unique Brisbane wedding venue, Cloudland, which just so happens to be the very same venue that I had the pleasure of performing Paul and Paul’s amazing same sex wedding last year.

Their ceremony took place in Cloudland’s stylish Cellar Room (check out those lights on the ceiling!) and the vibe of their ceremony was the perfect combination of meaningful and heartfelt, and upbeat and fun, with a few roars of laughter thrown in to get their marriage off to an amazing start!

Marriage change name checklist

With Brisbane City Celebrants

Following on from our previous article outlining the process options to order your official or ‘registered issued’ marriage certificate from BDM (which you can view here), we have created the following marriage change of name checklist to assist you with this process, if the bride choose to take the grooms last name.

Once you have received your registry issued marriage certificate, using this as your proof of marriage, you can contact the following departments and companies, to advise them of your change of name, so they can update their records accordingly:

Medicare and any private health insurance funds
Superannuation fund
Your employer
Any educational institution you may be enrolled with
Electoral rolls
The Transport Authority in your State, eg. Transport Dept (QLD)
Bank/ Home loan provider/ Credit card issuer
Insurance and utility companies, eg. Telephone, electricity, internet provider, car insurance, etc.
Passports office
Australian Tax Office
Vehicle Registration
GoVia account
Flybuys, Qantas or other reward programs, store cards, airline loyalty programs, gym and other memberships
Superannuation fund
Doctors, Dentists, Health Care Professionals etc
Landlord
You may also wish to change your email address for your work and home emails.
